Novel Drugs Development for Cardio-/ Cerebrovascular Diseases

Description

Cardio- and cerebrovascular diseases are the leading causes of death worldwide. Despite the major advancements in cardiovascular medicine over the past 50 years, heart disease and stroke remain the number one public health concern and primary causes of death today. Breakthrough in elucidating the basic molecular pharmacology in cardiovascular function and thrombosis/coagulation has led to significant advancements in the current treatment paradigm for patients with heart disease. Innovation in these areas of research has led to remarkable discoveries and has significantly reduced the mortality and morbidity from vascular diseases. Nevertheless, more work and a tenacious pursuit of the basic science in cardiovascular biology are still wanted.

The purpose of this special issue is to present knowledge of prevention and treatment by the use of novel drugs and nutraceuticals with the help of our coworkers and globally associated researchers. We encourage contribution by original research papers as well as review papers that will motivate the remaining efforts to understand the pathology underlying cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases and neurodegenerations, the development of strategies to prevent and treat these conditions, the evaluation of outcomes, and the epidemiological and clinical studies. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Isolation, identification, and characterization of natural drugs with experimental and clinical implications for treating cardiovascular diseases
  • Identification and execution of safe and effective natural medicines for the treatment of thrombosis and vascular diseases
  • Elucidation of function, drug interaction, and side effects of natural drugs in cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases using systematic approaches such as transcriptomics and proteomics
  • Role of functional foods and nutraceuticals in the management of vascular diseases
  • Advances in screening and identifying natural drugs against cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
  • Current investigations of novel drug development for treatment of myocardial infarction and stroke

Before submission, authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/bmri/pharmacology/cvd/ according to the following timetable:
