Muscle Contractility and Cell Motility

Description

Muscle contractility and cell motility play a central role in various physiological and pathological processes, ranging from cardiovascular function to myopathies to wound healing and cancer metastasis. Recent advances in biology and medicine have significantly enhanced our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the regulation of muscle contractility and cell motility.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles or review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the contraction of cardiac, skeletal, and smooth muscles as well as the motility of various nonmuscle cells. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Molecular and cellular mechanisms
  • Myofilament structure and function
  • Calcium regulation of muscle contraction
  • Neuromuscular diseases
  • Myocardial function and diseases
  • Hypertension
  • Cell motility in development and various pathological conditions
