Genetic Treatments for Aging Diseases

Description

Aging-associated diseases have been increasing in terms of frequency and senescence. The percentage of the national population over age 65 has been increasing in the last 10 years and will continue to rise for another 20 years due to improved life expectancy. Therefore, aging diseases have attracted increasing attention.

However, the pathogenesis of many aging diseases is still unclear, and there is no gold standard method to completely cure aging diseases. At the genetic level, we can explore the pathogenesis of diseases in depth. Combined with bioinformatic analysis, we can further explore this pathogenesis. Bioinformatic analysis technology is based on big data. It can be used to analyze the differentially expressed genes between patients and normal people, to predict hub genes based on protein interactions, and gene enrichment analysis. Moreover, it can predict the molecular mechanisms between diseases and chemicals. Bioinformatic analysis has been widely used to test hypotheses involving disease mechanisms and to search for target genes.

The aim of this Special Issue is to further explore the pathogenesis mechanism of aging diseases at the genetic level, combined with or without bioinformatics analysis. Authors can highlight biomarkers or targeted genes for the treatment of aging diseases for clinical work. Submissions should only be based on cell/animal models. We hope that this Special Issue can provide further study directions for both experimental and clinical research.
