Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology for Liver Diseases
Description
The liver is the largest solid organ in the abdomen; therefore, there has been extensive focus on the development and use of new techniques for imaging this organ, especially in this decade. Each imaging modality developed should be able to ascertain the morphology, circulation, metabolism, parenchymal texture, fibrosis, and/or tumor viability in the liver. Moreover, these advanced imaging techniques and other interventional radiology (IR) devices have enabled the development of novel multimodal treatments for imaging the liver, which have yielded promising outcomes in many patients who cannot be surgically treated.
We invite researchers and authors to contribute original research as well as review articles that will support the continuing efforts to understand the diagnostic and interventional radiological aspects of liver diseases such as liver cancer, chronic hepatitis, portal hypertension, and congenital disorders. We are particularly interested in articles describing new modalities and protocols, for example, magnetic resonance (MR) perfusion, MR elastography, and dual-energy computed tomography (CT), which can potentially be used to evaluate liver functions. Contributions on epoch-making IR therapies for liver cancers or portal hypertension are also welcome. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Recently developed imaging modalities for various liver diseases
- Advances in equipment and protocols to evaluate fibrosis or hepatitis
- Latest functional MRI techniques for the liver
- Role of dual-energy CT in chronic liver diseases and liver cancers
- Role of nuclear medicine in chronic liver diseases and liver cancers
- Analysis of hepatocellular carcinoma using EOB-MRI and/or SPIO-MRI
- Epoch-making IR therapies for unresectable liver cancers including hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, and metastasis
- Novel drug delivery systems for transarterial chemotherapy
- Current and new techniques to treat portal hypertension including embolization of portosystemic shunts and TIPS
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/bmri/radiology/dira/ according to the following timetable:
