Antibacterial Activities of Selected Cameroonian Plants and Their Synergistic Effects with Antibiotics against Bacteria Expressing MDR Phenotypes

Supplementary Material

Sub-Inhibitory Concentrations (SIC) of extract of the seeds of Picralima nitida fruits, and Garcinia kola seeds improved the activities of several antibiotics in dose-dependent manner (S1). The best SIC obtained therefore were MIC/2 and MIC/5 for both G. kola and P. nitida. Only the SIC of MIC/2 induced some increase of the activity of antibiotics when they were combined with the extract of the seeds of G. lucida. Consequently, P. nitida and G. kola extract were tested in combination with antibiotics on MDR bacteria, and the results indicated synergistic activities in most of the cases (S2).
