Herbal Medicine for Prevention and Therapy in Breast Cancer
Description
The incidence of cancer is increasing worldwide. Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed types of cancer and is among the leading causes of cancer death. Although modern medicine has been used for first line treatment of this disease, traditional herbal medicine has also been widely used as complementary and alternative strategies.
It is important to document and publish research to provide scientific evidence for the use of herbal medicine. The concern with herbal medicine is the quality and standardization of the herbal product (especially the present of bioactive compounds which responsible for the effect), efficacy, mechanism of action, safety, and herb-drug interaction if being use as complementary medicine together with modern medicine.
This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for researchers to publish the latest developments and recent research, basic and clinical, in the use of herbal medicine for breast cancer prevention and therapy, including but not limited to ethnopharmacology, natural product chemistry, efficacy, safety and toxicity, in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical trial, herb-drug interaction, clinical trial, possible mechanisms of action as well as evidence-based herbal medicine. Researchers are invited to submit original research or review articles for possible inclusion in this Special Issue.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Systematic review and/or meta-analysis of the use of herbal medicine for breast cancer prevention and therapy based on a specific region/country/community (i.e., Western, Malay, Chinese, Indian, Thai, Indonesian etc)
- Ethnobotany and ethnopharmacology of herbs for breast cancer prevention and therapy
- Characterization of active ingredients in herbal plants that have breast cancer prevention and therapy properties
- Biological and pharmacological activity of natural and herbal extracts as breast cancer prevention and therapy
- In vitro and in vivo study and toxicity evaluation of natural and herbal product for breast cancer prevention and therapy
- Herb-drug interaction in breast cancer prevention and therapy
- Clinical trial of natural and herbal product for breast cancer prevention and therapy
- Mechanism of action of natural and herbal product as breast cancer prevention and therapy
- Genomic and proteomic approach in herbal medicine for breast cancer prevention and therapy
