Red areas represented C-peptide deposition indicated by arrow. On the lower panel is schematic explained the way C-peptide induces proliferation of mesangial cells suggesting a possible role of C-peptide in glomerular hyperproliferation in patients with diabetic nephropathy (Figure 2(b)).
