Histological scoring of lung injury in carrageenan induced pleurisy. MAE and diclofenac reduced lung injury significantly based on the following scoring indices: neutrophil infiltration (a) (<0.0001), edema (b) (<0.0001), hyperemia (c) (<0.0001), and alveolar septal thickening (d) (<0.0001) compared to carrageenan only treated groups. The degree of the lung damage was scored on a scale of 0–4. (i.e., 0: not present, 1: very mild, 2: mild, 3: moderate, and 4: extensive).
