Advanced Oxidation Processes for Wastewater Treatment 2013

Description

Growing concerns about the environmental pollution have resulted in the development of new environmental technologies to reduce and minimize waste. Due to the inability of biological and physical treatment processes to treat highly polluted toxic wastewater, present research is mainly focused on the development of cost-effective and eco-friendly treatment methods. Efforts have been made to develop various Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) for wastewater treatment. One of the advantages of AOPs is the complete mineralization of the pollutants present in wastewater. Both homogeneous and heterogeneous AOPs such as semiconductor photocatalysis, photo-Fenton process, and UV/H2O2, UV/O3 processes have been successfully used for wastewater treatment.

In this special issue, we invite scientists working in the respective research areas to submit original research articles as well as review articles which discuss the recent developments in either artificial or solar light assisted AOPs for wastewater treatment. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Photo-Fenton and Fenton like processes
  • Semiconductor photocatalysis
  • Sensitized degradation of pollutants
  • UV/H2O2 and UV/O3 processes
  • Photochemical oxidation of organic pollutants
  • Sonolytic processes
  • Solar energy utilization for wastewater treatment

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijp/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/ijp/aop13/ according to the following timetable:
