Nanoceramics: Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications

Call for Papers

Over the past decade, nanoceramics have received significant attention as candidate materials due to their capability to demonstrate improved and unique properties in comparison with conventional bulk ceramic materials. Nanoceramics exhibit unique processing, mechanical, and surface characteristics such as superplasticity, machinability, strength, toughness, and bioactivity due to the fine grain size, abundant grain boundaries, and controllable crystallinity.

We invite overview and original papers describing current and expected challenges along with potential solutions for Nanocerarmics: synthesis, characterization, and applications. Both experimental and theoretical papers are welcome. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Synthesis of nanoceramics and their composites/hybrid: nanocore-shells, nanowires, thin films, nanotubes and nanorods, transparent ceramics, multifunctional nanoceramics, bioceramics, bioactive ceramics, and so on
  • Characterization of nanoceramics
  • Theory, modelling, and numerical simulation of nanoceramics and nanohybrid materials
  • Fabrication and processing of nanoceramics: economic and ecological production process of nano-ceramic-based materials, components and devices, green manufacturing of nanoceramics, reuse of waste ceramic materials, and so on
  • Applications of nanoceramics and their composites: solid state lighting ceramics, electroceramic sensors, thermoelectric nanoceramics, nanoceramics for energy, environments, and healthcare, advanced ceramic thermal and environmental coatings, structural nanoceramics with improved hardness, strength, fracture toughness, creep, thermal shock, oxidation resistance, and so on
