Progression of RPE macular atrophy. Images from patient 1 from July 2015 (20/40 OU) demonstrate a mottled pattern of autofluorescence (a). By October 2019 (OD: CF, OS: 20/50), the images show late-stage changes consisting of numerous large lobules of hypoautofluorescence in both eyes of patient 1 (b). These lobules of absent autofluorescence correspond to the lobules of macular atrophy seen on examination and on color fundus imaging (Figure 2). There is a broader area of speckled hyper- and hypoautofluorescent abnormality involving the entire macula.
