Inhibition of nuclear transport results in downregulation of axonal transcriptional changes. Real-time RT-PCR was used to measure levels of axonal mRNA in injured hippocampal axons after inhibiting nuclear transport with IPZ. IPZ treatment suppresses elevated importin 1, RanBP1, vimentin, and -actin mRNA levels (white bars). Grey bars (previously graphed in Figure 2, 24 hrs) indicate untreated axons and are included for clarity of comparison.
