Advanced Multimedia Information Processing Technologies for Wireless Communication Networks

Description

Driven by the rapid progress of 5G communication and computer technology, the efficiency of information transmission has been increasing exponentially. The Internet of Things (IoT) has been widely used in telemedicine, long-distance education, intelligent transportation, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent agriculture, etc. IoT integrates artificial intelligence technology, cloud computing technology, radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology, traditional sensor technology, and wireless network technology.

The confidentiality, integrity, and availability of multimedia information in networks can be attacked. Therefore, the design of efficient and secure multimedia information processing technology is necessary. Multimedia data includes graphics, images, sound, text, and animation, therefore, it is high-dimensional, massive and multiple types exist. The storage capacity of different media also varies greatly. Due to the variety of content and formats of different types of media, the corresponding content management, processing methods, and interpretation methods also vary greatly. As the diversity of terminal equipment increases, the input and output of multimedia data can become increasingly complex. At present, there are emerging technologies that improve the performance of IoT. Distributed multimedia storage based on cloud computing greatly reduces storage complexity. Image processing, computer vision, augmented reality and other technologies also realize effective human-computer interaction that cannot be realized by traditional technologies. Data mining and artificial intelligence also improve the processing efficiency of multimedia information. The emerging artificial intelligence-based digital watermarking and information filtering technologies have been applied to increase data security.

This Special Issue aims to collect original research and review articles focusing on advanced multimedia storage technology, multimedia information collection, and processing technologies, and multimedia data security technology in wireless communication networks (WCN).

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Multimedia security and privacy in WCN
  • Steganography and steganalysis of multimedia information
  • Watermarking and digital rights management of multimedia information
  • Biometric encryption and biometric key generation technology
  • Distributed cloud-based multimedia storage technology
  • Multimedia information collection technology in WCN
  • Multi-sensor information fusion technology in WCN
  • Feature extraction method of multimedia data
  • Multimedia data compression technology
  • Multimedia-based human-computer interaction
  • Multimedia data transmission technology
