Blockchain Empowered Integration of Sensing, Communication, and Computing for the Internet of Things
Description
The Internet of Things (IoT) has been entering every aspect of life by exploiting a series of advanced technologies. With the remarkable increase in the number of diverse devices, the volume of internet data grows exponentially. In order to support emerging novel applications, an end-to-end information processing system is expected, where three key components are needed: data sensing, data communication, and data computing. Since these three components are tightly coupled, their integration is a requirement of IoT in providing high service quality, however, this also raises some concerns regarding trust. In order to address these issues, blockchain is considered to be a promising complement to IoT, which is able to enable trust establishment, repository, and transfer between different entities. However, the research on blockchain-empowered data sensing, communication, and computing (SCC) integration is still in its infancy with many key problems that remain to be solved.
Therefore, this Special Issue aims to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to share their latest research findings on blockchain empowered SCC integration for IoT. Original research and review articles are welcome.
