Dynamic Mechanical Response of Rock and Working Parts of Mining Equipment during Machine-Rock Interaction

Description

The improvement of the performance of mining machinery and equipment has greatly promoted the development of mining level.

However, with the increasing demand for mineral resources and energy, the deep development of exploration and mining has become the general trend. These will bring great challenges to the stability and service life of mining machinery and equipment. When mining machinery and equipment interact with rock, because it is unable to accurately grasp the interactive mapping relationship between key work components (lining, plates, pick, and bits) and rock materials in contact, the key components are easy to be damaged and their service life becomes shorter. The interaction between the key work components of mine heavy equipment and rock materials involves an intermittent and dynamic impact, friction and wear process. Therefore, studying the correlation mapping model and interactive relationship between the working parameters of mining equipment and the dynamic/static physical and mechanical properties of rock, clarifying the dynamic damage, fracture, failure, friction and wear mechanism of key components and rock under varying working parameters of mechanical equipment, and analyzing the evolution law of micro pore/fissure structure of key components and rock materials, are of great significant to optimizing the working parameters and improving the working efficiency and service life of mining machinery and equipment.

This Special Issue will cover a wide range of topics relating to the dynamic mechanical response of rock and metal working parts in the process of machine-rock interaction. We invite scientists and investigators to contribute original research and review articles, addressing the main issues facing the field.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Macroscopic damage, fracture, and failure characteristics of rock and working parts of mining equipment under shock and vibration loading
  • Cyclic impact and vibration characteristics of working parts of mining equipment in the process of machine-rock interaction
  • Evolution laws of micro pore/fissure structure of rock and mining equipment working parts under shock and vibration loading
  • Dynamic friction and wear characteristics of rock and working parts mining equipment under shock and vibration loading
  • Distribution of temperature, stress, and strain field on the machine-rock contact surface under thermo-mechanical and impact loading
  • Correlation mapping model between working parameters of mining equipment and physico-mechanical properties of rock under cyclic impact loading condition
  • Impact damage and wear characterization in mining equipment in the process of machine-rock interaction using advanced simulation technology and experimental techniques
  • Modelling impact damage and failure in rock and metallic materials under shock and vibration loading
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning approach to solving the stability assessment of mining equipment under cyclic impact loading conditions
