Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering and Geodynamics

Description

Geotechnical earthquake engineering and geodynamics is about how to solve the seismic problems in geotechnical engineering and understanding the dynamic characteristics of rock and soil under the circumstances of earthquake or vibration of blasting, transportation, etc.

As one of the worst natural disasters, earthquakes have seriously restricted the development of transportation and civil construction. The problem of geodynamics and geotechnical earthquake engineering has been one of the most challenging issues in infrastructure construction. Although some achievements have been made in this field, the results of several post-earthquake disaster surveys have given us a reminder that the current work is not enough. The disaster caused by earthquake still brings great loss of life and property safety.

This Special Issue aims to provide a communication platform for scholars in the field of geotechnical earthquake engineering and geodynamics, improve the research level in this field, and further improve the ability of disaster prevention to reduce the loss caused by earthquakes or other vibrations. Original research and review articles are welcome.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Seismic analysis of retaining and marine structures
  • Stability and displacement performance of slopes, landfills, and earth dams under earthquakes
  • Case histories of geotechnical earthquake engineering
  • Geotechnical seismic numerical and physical models
  • Dynamic interaction between soil and structure
  • Dynamic characteristics of rock and soil, and constitutive relations
  • In-situ testing techniques of environmental vibration
  • Wave propagation, engineering vibrations, and solutions
  • Ground motion and site seismic response
  • Geotechnical engineering problems caused by microearthquakes
  • Liquefaction and seismically-induced settlement, ground failures
