Responses and Protection of Structures against Multiple Dynamic Hazards

Description

Engineering structures are facing not only dynamic natural disasters such as floods and strong typhoons, but also manmade dynamic loads such as explosions and vehicle impacts.

Even though the academic community has made great achievements in the research on the performance and design method of engineering structures subjected to a single hazard, there are still great challenges ahead to enhance the performance of engineering structures under the combined effects of multiple dynamic loads. At present, the performance, damage evolution, and design method for engineering structures under multiple dynamic disasters is a promising research area around the world.

This Special Issue will cover a wide range of topics relating to the dynamic performance and protection of structures against multiple hazards. Original research and review articles are welcome.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Constitutive models for engineering materials
  • Bond and interface shear resistances between different materials under dynamic loads
  • Progressive collapse of reinforced concrete and composite structures
  • Impact and blast resistances of engineering structures
  • Resilience of engineering structures against multiple hazards
  • Numerical simulations of structural response to dynamic loads
  • Strengthening and retrofitting of structures subjected to dynamic loading
  • Design methods for protecting engineering structures against single/multiple hazards
  • Application of new materials for damage mitigation
  • Development of innovative structural systems for disaster prevention
