Achilles Tendinopathy: From the Basic Science to the Clinic
Description
Achilles Tendinopathy (AT) is commonly seen in clinic. It is believed to be a failure of the Achilles Tendon healing after repetitive trauma or overloading.
Many theories have been developed to explain the etiology of AT, including overuse, insufficient flexibility, genetics, endocrine disorders, and fluoroquinolones as well. However, the exact etiology of AT is not clear until now. In addition, lots of treatments, both conservative and surgical, have been used to deal with AT. However, there is no standard treatment until now. All the researches show that AT is a more complex condition than we have thought before. We need to do more to understand AT better.
We invite authors to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that improve the understanding of AT from different aspects.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Risk factors of AT
- Epidemiology of AT
- Biology of AT
- New techniques of diagnosis or evaluation for AT
- Radiologic imaging of Achilles Tendon and AT
- Evaluation of treatments for AT
- Other basic and clinical research of AT and related lesions, including Achilles Tendon rupture
