Nanostructures for Medicine and Pharmaceuticals

Description

In recent years, novel nanostructures with multifunctionalities have been developed for drug delivery with high punctuality and controllability. Due to significant ratio of surface area to volume, nanomaterials demonstrate unique behaviors different from their bulk counterparts. The potential for hard and soft nanostructures is rapidly expanding with new applications in many different areas. The unique size-dependent properties of nanomaterials make them ideal candidates with biological and medicinal functions for pharmaceutical applications. Extensive research has been carried out to investigate these fascinating nanomaterials which enable targeted drug delivery and time- or amount-controllable drug release in vitro and in vivo. Versatile nanosystems with size variability, three dimensionality, hydrophobicity, and electronic configurations offer great potential and promise in medicinal chemistry and therapeutics.

We are initiating a “Call for Papers” from individuals interested in presenting new research works pertaining to key issues in nanodrug delivery and pharmaceutical, particularly in the areas of new approaches of drug delivery, targeted drug delivery, nanostructures for drug storage, medical diagnosis and treatment, and related life and medical sciences. This special issue will include high-quality articles by internationally recognized scholars. The scope of selected topics will cover the studies on fundamental principles of developing nanostructures for their advanced applications in pharmaceutical sciences. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • New nanostructures for nanomedicine
  • Nanotechnologies to solve conventional pharmaceutical problems
  • Nanotechnologies and nanostructures for intelligent therapy
  • Nanostructures for clinical imaging and diagnostics
  • Biological mechanisms and functions of nanostructures
  • Nanostructures for chemo- and biodrug delivery
  • Nanostructures with biocompatible and biodegradable characters
  • Toxicity, safety, and ethnic issues of nanostructures

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jnm/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
