Dae-Shik Seo received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 1989, 1991, and 1994, respectively (Thesis: “Investigation of surface alignment of nematic liquid crystals”; Advisor: Shunsuke Kobayashi). From 1994 to 1995, he was a Visiting Researcher with the Liquid Crystal Institute (LCI), Kent State University, Kent, OH. He joined the faculty at Soongsil University in 1995. Since 2000, he has been a Professor with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. He has been engaged in the R&D of new LC alignment, flexible display, oxide-TFT since 1988. Dr. Seo was President of the Korea Institute of Electrical and Electronic Material Engineering in 2007 and was Vice-President of The Korean Development Institute for Science and Technology in 2010.
