Peter A. C. Maple

Peter A. Christopher Maple is currently a Principal/Consultant Clinical Virologist (Scientist) at the Virus Reference Department, Health Protection Agency Microbiology Services (Colindale), London, UK. He is undertaking work on viral vaccines and noninvasive (oral fluid) assay development, and his clinical diagnostic and research and development activities include measles, mumps and rubella, VZV, B19V, and novel parvoviruses. Previously, he undertook clinical attachments at various hospitals as part of MRCPath training. He was formerly the Head of the Public Health Laboratory Service, Syphilis Supraregional Laboratory, Bristol, UK. Maple was trained (1987-1991) at Royal Free Hospital and School of Medicine under Professors William Brumfitt and Jeremy Hamilton-Miller and gained the Ph.D. degree titled "multiple antibiotic resistance in Staphylococcus aureus? which was awarded by the University of London, London, UK, 1991. His general interest is in bacterial and viral serology and antimicrobial resistance.
