Maria P. Robalo

Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa, Portugal

M. Paula Robalo is currently a Coordinator Professor of inorganic chemistry at the Chemical Engineering Department, Instituto Superior Engenharia de Lisboa, Portugal. She earned her degree in chemistry and her Ph.D. degree in inorganic chemistry in 1986 and 1993, respectively, from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, Portugal. Her thesis work encompasses the synthesis and characterization of organometallic complexes with potential NLO properties. After completing her Ph.D. degree, she got a position as an Assistant Professor at the Chemical Department of the University of Évora, where she worked for 10 years coordinating the organic chemistry subarea. In 2000, she became an Associate Professor of organic chemistry at the same department. Since 2002, she has been a Coordinator Professor at the Instituto Superior Engenharia de Lisboa. Her research interests include several areas such as the synthesis and characterization of transition metal complexes for applications as NLO or photochromic materials, electrochemical characterization of anticancer metallodrugs and biomolecule interaction studies, and the biosynthesis and biotransformation of dyes assisted by laccases.
