Ibrahim I. El-Sharkawy

Ibrahim I. El-Sharkawy received his B.S. (honors) and M.S. degrees in mechanical power engineering from Mansoura University, Egypt. He obtained his Ph.D. degree specializing in energy and environmental engineering from Kyushu University, Japan, in 2006. He is currently an Associate Professor at Mansoura University. Dr. El-Sharkawy obtained several postdoctoral fellowships from (1) Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), (2) King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and (3) National University of Singapore. His main research interests are the following: thermally driven adsorption cooling/heat pump systems, solar thermal heating and cooling systems, adsorbed natural gas storage, and adsorption desalination. To date, Professor El-Sharkawy published more than 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and proceedings and three book chapters. He received conference paper awards in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
