Although the processes involved in the death of neurons could have a diverse and complex ethiology, the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved seem to be common to diverse neurodegenerative diseases. During the recent years, mounting evidences suggest that apoptotic death is involved in the brain damage associated to several neuropathologies like cerebral ischemia or Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases. In this respect, we have been interested in the mechanisms involved in the regulation of apoptosis in the CNS.
