Joseph J. Mattapallil received a Ph.D. degree in immunology from University of California Davis (1997). He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Uniformed Services University. His areas of expertise include human immunodeficiency virus, Simian immunodeficiency virus, Herpesvirus pathogenesis, therapy and vaccine development, mucosal immunity, T-cell memory, cytokines, and chemokines as adjuvants and their role on disease, acute, and chronic viral infections, use of nonhuman primate models to study human disease, and development of vaccines.
