Brian K. Via

Auburn University, USA

Brian Via is currently an Associate Professor and Director of the Forest Products Development Center in the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences at Auburn University, Auburn, AL, USA, and has a joint appointment in Biosystems Engineering. For his Ph.D. degree, he used multivariate statistics/chemometrics with near infrared spectroscopy to rapidly analyze biomass/wood chemistry and currently has expanded his research to bioenergy and bio-based adhesives for wood composites. He also collaborates with the forest health research group to rapidly analyze wood chemistry for genetic families and its effect on tree disease tolerance. Via received his M.S. degree in wood mechanics at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA, and obtained his Ph.D. degree in forest chemometrics at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, USA. He has spent 7 years in an industrial research environment at both International Paper and Louisiana Pacific Corporations where he used chemometrics and multivariate modeling to characterize genetic families, wood composites, and adhesives.
