Fabio Trindade Costa

Fabio Trindade Costa obtained a Ph.D. degree from the University of Campinas, Campinas,SP, Brazil. He received a B.A. degree in biological sciences from the University of Brasilia, Brasília, DF, Brazil. He attended graduate school at Federal University of São Paulo, Brazil and earned a Ph.D. degree in parasitology while working in the laboratory of Dr. Mauricio M. Rodrigues, a world expert on the immunology and vaccine development against protozoan parasites. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Laboratory of Dr. Jürg Gysin, an expert on pathogenic mechanisms of Plasmodium falciparum and vaccine development in nonhuman primates. Costa described the development of an experimental vaccine against malaria in pregnancy. He joined the University of Campinas in 2004, and now is an associate professor of Parasitology. Costa’s research interests include pathogenic mechanisms of Plasmodium vivax and the development of adjunct therapies in murine cerebral malaria. Costa also serves on the Editorial Boards of PloSOne and the Frontiers of Immunology.
