Piotr Czauderna

Piotr Czauderna completed his medical undergraduate education at the Medical University of Gdansk, Poland from 1980 to 1986. He completed his residency/fellowship at the Clinic of Pediatric Surgery of the Medical University of Gdansk from 1986 to 1995. He was specialized in pediatric surgery. He received an M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the Medical University of Gdansk (thesis on the veno-occlusive liver disease in nephroblastoma). He has a Membership of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP), International Society of Pediatric Surgical Oncology (IPSO), European Union of Pediatric Surgeons (EUPSA), International Pediatric Endosurgery Group (IPEG), and Polish Association of Pediatric Surgeons (PAPS). He serves as the Current Chairman of the International SIOP Childhood Liver Tumors Strategy Group (SIOPEL) (from 2006). He also serves as a Member of the Board of Pediatric Surgery Section of the European Union of Medical Specialists, President-Elect of the Polish Association of Pediatric Surgeons, Regional Consultant for pediatric surgery (from 2005). He has published more than 130 papers and abstracts published (around 60 written in English) in Polish and foreign medical journals. He received the best poster prize during the SIOP congress in Montreal, 1999, several awards of the Rector of the Gdansk Medical University, 1997, 2003, and 2005, respectively, an award from the Polish Minister of Health, 1999, and an award from the Lord Mayor of Gdansk, 2000. His special interests are treatment of liver malignancies in children and application of minimally invasive surgery in pediatric oncology
