Dong Xiang obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees in computer science from Chongqing University in 1987 and 1990, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from the Institute of Computing Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1993. He visited Concordia University, Canada, as a postdoc from 1994 to 1995, and the Coordinated Science Laboratory, University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, from 1995 to 1996. He served at the Institute of Microelectronics, Tsinghua University, as an Associate Professor from October 1996 to March 2003. He moved to the School of Software, Tsinghua University in March 2003. He serves currently as a Professor at the School of Software, Tsinghua University. He worked with Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Nara, Japan, as a JSPS Invitation Fellow from April 2003 to September 2003. He also serves as a Senior Member of the IEEE.
