Elena Simona Lohan obtained her Ph.D. degree in wireless communications and positioning in 2003 from Tampere University of Technology (TUT), Tampere, Finland. She also graduated with an M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Politehnica University of Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania, in 1997, and a D.E.A. degree (French equivalent of M.S. degree) in econometrics from École Polytechnique, Paris, France, in 1998. She currently serves as an Academy Research Fellow and Docent (Adjunct Professor) at TUT, leading the research activities in signal processing for wireless positioning and navigation at the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering. Lohan has coauthored more than 80 international peer-reviewed publications and several patents and patent applications. She has been involved as a working package Leader in two Galileo-related projects (FP6 GREAT and FP7 GRAMMAR), and she has been a Principal Investigator in more than 5 Finnish projects (with academic or industrial funding).
