Cheng-Xin Gong

Cheng-Xin Gong, M.D., is the Head of Brain Metabolism Laboratory, New York State Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities. He is also appointed as an Adjunct Professor by the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and a visiting professor by several universities in China. The overall goal of Dr. Gong’s research is to understand the molecular mechanism of neurodegeneration in various brain diseases, especially in Alzheimer’s disease, and ultimately to develop therapeutic strategies to treat diseases with neurodegeneration. His expertise includes Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders, neurodegeneration, protein phosphorylation, protein glycosylation, signal transduction, and behavioral studies in rodents.
