Shaikh F. U. Ahmed is serving as Associate Professor in School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering of Curtin University, Bentley, WA, Australia. He received his Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore, in 2005. He received his M.Eng. degree from the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1998, and the B.S. degree in (civil) engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Khulna, Bangladesh, in 1994. He held a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship by Japan Society for the promotion of science for two years after completion of his Ph.D. degree. His research focuses on the development of sustainable binder by incorporating high volume fractions of industrial by-products as partial replacement of OPC and nano- and ultrafine materials, use of recycled aggregates in sustainable concrete, development of ductile fibre reinforced geopolymer composites, behaviour of geopolymer based composite in fire, and natural fibre reinforced composites. He is a Chartered Profession Engineer (CPEng.) of Australia, Fellow of Engineers Australia (FIEAust), and Member of Concrete institute of Australia. He has supervised 6 Ph.D. and 2 M.Phil. students and is currently supervising 3 Ph.D. students. He has about 155 refereed publications including one book published in Springer, four book chapters, 103 reviewed journal papers, and 47 reviewed conference papers in his credit. He also holds an H-index of 28 and total citations of about 2096 according to Google scholar. He is a regular Reviewer of various prestigious international journals out of which he is awarded “Outstanding Reviewer” by Journal of Construction and Building Materials in 2014 and 2016.
