Jens Ellrich has received his M.D. degree (Habilitation, Venia legendi) in physiology from the University of Erlangen, Germany in 2000. In 1992, he received an M.D. degree from the University of Mainz, Germany, passed with (summa cum laude), equivalent to Ph.D. degree. Moreover, he has got an M.D. degree from the University of Mainz, Germany in 1992. Since 2007, he has been a Professor of medical physiology at Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark. From 2003 to 2007, he has been a Professor of experimental neurosurgery at the RWTH Aachen University, Germany. Ellrich has been an Associate Professor of pharmacology at the University of Erlangen, Germany during the period of 2000 to 2003. Moreover, he was awarded Teacher of the Year 2008 at the Faculties of Engineering, Natural Sciences, and Medicine, Aalborg university and in the same year, he received the Poster award of the German Society for Conservative Dentistry. Other awards which he had won are Best paper award on AISPC08 meeting, European Award for Pain Research EGG 2005, Poster award of the German Society for the Study of Pain in 2002, MSD Sharp & Dohme Migraine Award in 1999, Poster award of the German Society for the Study of Pain in 1998, and Tancré-Award in recognition of the doctoral thesis in 1993.
