Juliano Ferreira obtained the B.S. degree in pharmaceutical sciences and the Ph.D. degree in pharmacology, in 1997 and 2004, respectively. Currently, Ferreira serves as an Assistant Professor at the Federal University of Santa Maria, Santa Maria, RS, Brazil. Ferreira’s areas of expertise include pharmacology of pain and inflammation, molecular and biochemical pharmacology, neuropsychopharmacology, and autonomic pharmacology. Ferreira was a Member in several professional societies such as Brazilian Academy of Sciences, International Association for the Study of Pain, Brazilian Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and Brazilian Society of Neurosciences. Ferreira was granted the Young Researcher Award from the Brazilian Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics in 2003. Ferreira’s research interests include pain, kinins, TRP receptors, calcium channels, oxidative stress, natural products, plants, and animal toxins.
