ZhiQiang Chen

ZhiQiang Chen received his Ph.D. degree in structural engineering from University of California, San Diego (UCSD), in 2009. He joined the Civil and Mechanical Engineering Department at University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), in 2010. Prior to joining UMKC, he conducted research in nonlinear soil-structure system modeling, geotechnical centrifuge modeling, and system identification as a Postdoctoral Researcher at UCSD. At UMKC, Dr. Chen conducted research in advanced sensing, computing, and soil-structure modeling for civil infrastructure systems, and other interdisciplinary topics in smart and green city applications. Dr. Chen currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in structural engineering, directs the Civil Systems and Geoinformatics Research Lab, and holds doctoral faculty status in both Civil and Computer Engineering.
