José A. Casaretto

José A. Casaretto received his B.S. degree in biology from the Universidad Cayetano Heredia, Lima, Peru. He has a M.S. degree in plant biology from the Universidad de Chile, Santiago, Chile, and a Ph.D. degree in plant biology from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, USA. From 2002 to 2004, he was a Research Associate Scientist at the Department of Biology, Washington University in St. Louis. In 2005, he was hired as a Professor and Researcher at the Universidad de Talca, Chile, where he led the Molecular Plant Physiology Laboratory at the Instituto de Biología Vegetal y Biotecnología. Currently, he is a Research Scientist at the University of Guelph, Guelph, ON, Canada. He is a Member of the American Society of Plant Biologists and the Chilean Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SCBBM). His research is primarily in the area of plant stress biology and biotechnology related to abiotic stress responses.
