Ling Xia

Ling Xia is a Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Zhejiang University, China. He received his Ph.D. degree from Zhejiang University, China, in 1996. Dr. Xia is the Vice Director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of Zhejiang University and also the Vice Director of the Key Laboratory of Biomedical Engineering, Ministry of Education of China. He constructed China’s first heart model with realistic geometry and anatomy. Based on his heart model, Dr. Xia has done numerous theoretical investigations on the heart diseases such as conduction blocks, ischemia or myocardial infarcts, Brugada syndrome, heart failure, and atrial and ventricular fibrillation. He is one of the leading research experts in the field of heart simulation and ECG inverse problem. He has published more than 80 papers in journals and more conference papers in the field. He has obtained several highest-level grants from Chinese government including five from the National Natural Science Foundation and three from the National Key Research Projects. Dr. Xia was supported by the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in China in 2004.
