Sonia A. Tucci

Sonia Tucci was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1966. She received a Medical degree (magna cum laude) and a Molecular Biology M.S. degree (summa cum laude) from the Los Andes University in Venezuela in 1990 and 1997, respectively. From 1990 to 2000, Tucci was a Lecturer of human physiology at the Faculty of Medicine in Los Andes University in Venezuela. There she also developed her expertise in brain mechanisms involved in addictive behaviors with special emphasis on in vivo microdialysis coupled to several analytical techniques including HPLC and capillary electrophoresis. In 2003, she obtained her Ph.D. degree in psychopharmacology from King’s College London. Since 2004, Tucci has been a Lecturer at the School of Psychology, the University of Liverpool, Liverpool, UK. Her research interest includes brain mechanisms underlying motivated behavior with particular reference to neural bases and pharmacological manipulation of feeding behavior and brain cannabinoid function in relation to appetite and body weight regulation. She also investigates the diverse aspects of biopsychology of appetite regulation and the effects of media exposure on food intake.
