Rene de J. Romero-Troncoso received his Ph.D. degree in mechatronics from the Autonomous University of Queretaro, Santiago de Queretaro, QRO, Mexico. He is currently a Head Professor at the University of Guanajuato, Centro, GTO, Mexico, and an Invited Researcher at the Autonomous University of Queretaro, Santiago de Queretaro, QRO, Mexico. He has been an Adviser for more than 200 theses, an author of two books on digital systems (in Spanish), and a coauthor of more than 120 technical papers published in international journals and conferences. He is a National Researcher Level 3 at the Mexican Council of Science and Technology CONACYT; he is also a Fellow of the Mexican Academy of Engineering, and, since 2012, he has been a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). His fields of expertise include digital signal processing techniques: filters, spectral analysis, statistical analysis, neural networks, fuzzy systems, hardware design with FPGA and embedded systems, and instrumentation and monitoring with applications to mechatronics, robotics, induction motors, structural vibrations, and automated agriculture.
