Associate Professor, Department of Biophysics and Biometrics, Roberto Alcantara Gomes Institute of Biology, Rio de Janeiro State University (DBB-IBRAG-UERJ / / biology). Born on October 6, 1952, in Rio de Janeiro. In 1974, he graduated in Biological Sciences from UERJ. In 1980, presented his Masters thesis in Biology (Nuclear Biosciences), at UERJ, under the guidance of Prof. Roberto Alcantara Gomes. From 1981 to 1983, worked as a Research Scholar at Stanford University Medical Center, California, USA, in the Department of Radiology under the guidance of Dr. K. C. Smith, with a grant from the IAEA / CNPq. Between 1987 and 1991, worked at the Gustave Roussy Institute, Villejuif, France and presented PhD Thesis in Life Sciences - Biophysics, at the University of Paris VI (Pierre et Marie Curie), Paris, France, under the guidance of Dr. Jacques Laval, CAPES scholarship. Vice-President (1993-1995) and President (1995-1997) of the Brazilian Society of Mutagenesis, Carcinogenesis and Environmental Teratogenesis ( Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Biology UERJ (, in the period of 1996-1999. Director of the Department for Promotion of Graduate Education (DEPG) of the UERJ Post-Graduate and Research Sub-Rectory ( in the period 2000-2003. Vice-President of Mutagen-Brasil (2007-2006). Coordinated in the biennium 2006-2007 of the Postgraduate Program in Environment, Multidisciplinary Doctorate of UERJ ( Elected Director of the Biology Institut Roberto Alcantara Gomes ( for the period 2008-2011. In 2012, it took over the Coordination of the Multidisciplinary Postgraduate Program in the Environment of UERJ. CV:
