Thomas Ostermann

Thomas Ostermann was born in Haren, Germany, in 1970. He received his M.S. degree in mathematics and physics from the University of Osnabrück in 1995 and the Ph.D. degree from Witten/Herdecke University in 1999 (doctoral thesis) and 2005 (habilitation thesis), respectively. Since 1999, he is working as a Senior Research Fellow in the field of complementary medicine at Witten/Herdecke University. In 2009 and 2010, he qualified in the field of medical biometrics, epidemiology, and medical informatics. Since 2010, he serves as a Full Professor for CAM Research Methodology and Information Systems at Witten/Herdecke University. He is mainly interested in the development of statistical methods for clinical trials and in implementing documentation and information systems in CAM. He has developed several databases on CAM and on art therapy His main areas of clinical research are in the field of nonpharmacological treatments and in art therapy.
