Predrag Dominis Prester

Predrag Dominis Prester was born in Šibenik, Croatia, in 1968. He received his diploma engineering degree (1994), M.S. (1998) and Ph.D. degrees (1999), all in physics, from the University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia. From 1995 to 1999, he was Research/Teaching Assistant, from 1999 to 2003 Postdoc, and from 2003 to 2007 an Assistant professor at the Department of Theoretical Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. As an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow, he was from 2004 to 2006 at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute), Golm b. Potsdam, Germany. In 2007, he moved to the Department of Physics, University of Rijeka, Rijeka, Croatia, where he has been since 2009 an Associate Professor. From 2009 to 2010, he was Vice Head of the Department of Physics, and, since 2010, he has been Head of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics Division. His research activity has been focused on the aspects of theory of elementary particle physics such as classical and quantum gravity, string theory, black hole physics, low-dimensional quantum field theory, and spin chains. Prester is currently a Member of the National Council for Natural Sciences and a Member of the Strategy Board and of the Council of Science of the University of Rijeka.
