Nowshad Amin accomplished his education until the higher secondary level from his native country, Bangladesh. He was then selected for the Japanese Ministry of Education scholarship, where he received a Diploma (March, 1994) in electrical engineering from Gunma National College of Technology, a B.S. degree (March, 1996) in electrical and electronic engineering from Toyohashi University of Technology in Japan. Subsequently, he got his M.S. degree (March,1998) and Ph.D. degree (March, 2001) in electrical and electronic engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan, where he pursued research on low-cost and high-efficiency solar cell fabrication and characterization. Subsequently, amid of service in Motorola, he pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of South Florida on CdTe thin film solar cells. Since, November 2004, Dr. Nowshad has been working in Malaysia with present affiliation at the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM) as an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Electronic and Systems Engineering. He also holds the position of Group Leader for PV systems & Advanced Solar Cells under Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI) of the University. Dr. Nowshad has authored numerous research articles in both cited journals and conference proceedings. He also possesses a few patents mostly on solar PV technologies. The research group he has been leading was awarded as one of the best research groups in 2009. He is actively involved in promoting renewable energy to the developing countries in South and South East Asia, working as consultant to some solar PV manufacturers in both Bangladesh and Malaysia.
