Baojun Xu is a Zhuhai Distinguished Scholar, Professor at Beijing Normal University, Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC), Guangdong, China, Associate Director of UIC Key Lab, Laboratory for Health Promotion Mechanism of Medicinal Food and Folk Remedy, and Fellow and Principle Ph.D. Supervisor of HKBU-UIC JIRS. Xu received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Food Science in Chungnam National University, Daejeon, Republic of Korea, in 2005. He conducted postdoctoral research work at the Department of Cereal and Food Science in North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, USA, in 2005–2008, followed by postdoctoral research work at the Department of Veterinary Clinical in Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA, and Gerald P. Murphy Cancer Foundation, West Lafayette, IN, USA, during the period 2008–2009. As a Visiting Scholar, he did two-month short-term research work at North Dakota State University in 2012 and University of Georgia, Athens, GA, USA, in 2014, respectively. He is a Member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and Senior Member of the Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology. Xu is serving as an Associate Editor-in-Chief of Food Science and Human Wellness, Regional Editor of Advance Journal of Food Science and Technology, and Editorial Board Member of a couple of journals. During the past 15 years, over 120 peer-reviewed papers authored and coauthored by Xu have been published in international journals. The papers have been widely cited. One of the papers was cited 527 times so far. Due to the outstanding contributions of Xu to the innovation and development of food industry and research, the Outstanding Research Talent Award was conferred on him by the 2nd Innovation Development Forum of Chinese Food Industry-University-Research. He was awarded the Zhuhai Distinguished Scholar in 2015 and UIC President Award in research in 2016.
