Keat Teong Lee obtained his Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2004. His research interest focused mainly on renewable energy, energy sustainability, and environmental pollution control. He serves currently as an Associate Professor and as the Deputy Dean (research and postgraduate studies) at the School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He has completed numerous funded research projects from national and international awarding bodies. He has published more than 100 research articles in various international peer-reviewed journals. He has also received numerous recognitions at national and international levels by being invited as a Keynote Expert/Panel Speaker in various national and international events throughout the world including Beijing, Thailand, and Mexico. Besides that, he was appointed as a committee member for conferences held in Taiwan, Croatia, Italy, and Mexico. He serves currently as the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Advanced Chemical Engineering and as an Editorial Board Member for Bioresource Technology, ISRN Renewable Energy, and the Journal of Engineering. He was also constantly being invited to review articles submitted to various international journals published by Elsevier, American Chemical Society, John-Wiley, and many more. Apart from that, he has also acted as an External Thesis Examiner and Grants Assessor for various institutions worldwide especially in India, South Africa, and the US Department of Agriculture. Currently, he is working on the production of biofuels (biodiesel and bioethanol) from biomass (mainly oil palm biomass) using various technologies. Apart from that, he also has a special interest in the social and sustainability aspects of biofuels.
