David Lehmann

David Lehmann received his Pharm.D. degree followed by a residency in clinical pharmacy from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, Mo, USA, in 1980. He received his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Wis, USA, followed by an internal medicine residency at the University of New Mexico, NM, USA, in 1990. He is board certified in internal medicine and in clinical pharmacology from the American Board of Clinical Pharmacology. Dr. Lehmann is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He joined the American College of Clinical Pharmacology as a Member in 1995 and upgraded to a Fellow in 2001. He has practiced medicine and pharmacy in Kenya and Micronesia before accepting a faculty appointment at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in 1994, with joint appointments in medicine and pharmacology. He is now a tenured Full Professor of medicine and pharmacology. He is a Founding Member of and continues to serve on the International Board of Advisors for the Patan Academy of the Health Sciences, a medical school devoted to the rural needs of Nepal. Dr. Lehmann has numerous publications in the field of drug interactions, drug toxicity, and pharmacoepidemiology. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and serves as a frequent Reviewer for the journal. Moreover, he has served as the representative of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology for the national committee on the prevention and treatment of asthma. He is a Regent of the ACCP from 2006 to 2012 and is completing his tenure as its Secretary. From 2001 to 2005, Dr. Lehmann has served on the United States Medical Licensure Committee for Step 1 in Pharmacology. He is the Medical Director for the New York State Prescriber Education Program, a joint educational initiative between the New York State Department of Health, Office of Health Insurance Programs, and the State University of New York, a position he has held since 2008 to present.
