Bernhard Schuster

Bernhard Schuster studied biochemistry and food chemistry at the University of Technology Graz, Styria, Austria. He received his Ph.D. degree with distinction from the Institute of Biophysics and X-Ray Structure Research, Austrian Academy of Sciences, Graz, Austria in 1995. He completed a Postdoc at the Center for Ultrastructure Research, University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria and Ludwig-Boltzmann-Institute for Molecular Nanotechnology, Vienna, Austria. Then, he became an Associate Professor in 2004 at the Department of NanoBiotechnology, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria. He is a Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the book serial Advances in Planar Lipid Bilayers and Liposomes (Elsevier Science) since 2004. He is also an Editorial Board Member of the international Journals Nanobiotechnology (Humana Press) since 2004 and The Open Nanomedicine Journal (Bentham Science Publishers) since 2008. His main research interests are focused on biomimetics, functional supported lipid membranes, biosensors, nanobiotechnology, bioinspired materials, smart drug targeting and delivery nanocarriers, in-vitro synthesis of membrane proteins, and channelomics.
