Yuan-Shing Perng

Yuan-Shing Perng was born in 1956 in Hsinchu, Taiwan. He received his B.A.S. and M.S. degrees in chemical engineering from National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, and National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, respectively. He also obtained his M.E. degree in chemical engineering from University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT, USA, in 1982. From 1982, he worked at Shihlin Paper Co. and Taipei Paper Manufacture for 5 years, mostly as Director of the Technical and Quality Control Sections. Subsequently, he entered the Ph.D. program at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada. He was awarded the degree on the dissertation entitled “Electrochemically mediated oxygen bleaching of pulp” in 1993. Upon returning to Taiwan, he worked as Chief of the Renewable Energy Section in the Energy and Resource Laboratory of the Industrial Technology Research Institute, Hsinchu, Taiwan, for 3 years. He moved to Long Chen Paper Co. Ltd. in 1996 as Director of Paper R&D Center and Operation Assistant Vice President of White Paper Sector. In 2002, he transferred to Yeou Fong Yu Co. Ltd. as Mill Manager of Tatung Mill and Union Paper Co. as Vice President for two years. He moved to position as Professor and Director, Environmental Engineering, Dayeh University, Changhua County, Taiwan, from 2003 to 2016. Finally, he moved to his current position as Professor, Department of Forestry, National Chung Hsing University, Taichung, Taiwan.
