Athanasios Chasalevris

General Electric Oil & Gas, United Kingdom

Athanasios Chasalevris, since November 2015, serves as general electric-rotordynamic and mechanical integrity engineer, General Electric Oil and Gas/Industrial Steam Turbines (Rugby, UK). Chasalevris also served as ALSTOM power-rotordynamic and mechanical integrity engineer, TTT-Industrial Steam Turbines (Rugby, UK) (February 2015–November 2015), and as BorgWarner-Rotordynamic engineer, BorgWarner Turbo Systems Engineering GmbH/Core Science-Bearings-Preventive Acoustics (Kirchheimbolanden, Germany) (September 2013–February 2015). Chasalevris obtained Diploma (M.Eng. degree) in mechanical and aeronautical engineering from Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, University of Patras, Patras, Greece (September 1999–July 2004), and Ph.D. degree from Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, University of Patras, (July 2004–July 2009). Chasalevris is Member of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI), Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE). Chasalevris research subjects are nonlinear dynamics of rotating machinery (theoretical and experimental analysis), analytical and numerical simulation of journal bearings of various types (circular/noncircular), development of adjustable/controllable journal bearings of variable geometry (theoretical analysis and experimental testing), nonlinear simulation of high speed systems using analytical methods, and nonlinear simulation of rotating dynamic systems with defects of rotor crack and bearing wear/methods for nondestructive detection.
