He has interests in clinical and experimental neuropsychology and is licensed psychologist in the province of Saskatchewan. After completing post-doctoral fellowships in experimental neuropsychology at the University of Alberta (NSERC), University of Pennsylvania (NIH) and the University of British Columbia (NIMH) he returned to Saskatchewan. Dr. McCrea has conducted research on the dorsal and ventral stream model of higher cortical functions as well as new theories on cerebral lateralization. Current research is directed towards understanding the neuropsychological properties of several new neuropsychological instruments, the neural basis of intuition and insight, neuropsychiatric systems involved in bipolar and mood disorders as well as using functional and structural neuroimaging to better characterize neuropsychological syndromes.
